This is Ramanathan from Chennai, India. I have got admitted for MS in Electrical Engineering for Fall 2009. I felt empty on the details regarding housing, fellow students from India admitted this year. I would be happy to know the details to feel comfortable and go on with the processes smoothly.

  3. Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone had experience with the GMAT test. I have applied to the MBA program, but still need to take this test. I was wondering how much of a factor this test is when admission consideration.

  4. Hi there..

  5. Hi everyone,

I have applied for MS in Electrical Engineering but I would like to switch to Computer Science. So I wanted to know the process of doing that. If anyone could provide me the email ID of a person whom I could contact regarding this it would be very helpful.

    Thanks a lot!

    • Hi Jerves,

Thank you for your question. The first thing you should do is contact the department of Computer Science to see if they are still accepting application for their program. In order to “switch” programs you would need to apply, and be accepted to, the department of Computer Science Engineering. Unfortunately, it is very possible that the department will have already filled their class and will no longer be accepting new students for the coming semester. The department’s email address is cse-gradinfo@cse.buffalo.edu

Should you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at gradvant@buffalo.edu

      Good luck!

  10. Hi,
I am Srikanth from India and i intend to apply to UB for the fall 2010 semester and i am awaiting my tofel and awa scores as i have taken both of these test recently and i scored 1200 on the gre with 490 in verbal section which i presume on overall is below the standard of the university. Can you provide me with relevant information by which i can actually know if i would be a potential candidate to UB.

  11. I am applying to the MPH program at UB, and I planned to take the GREs in Turkmenistan tomorrow, where I am a Peace Corps Volunteer. The tests have not arrived in the country, and I will not have the chance to take the test until January or February. Is it possible to have my application reviewed without the GRE score?

    Thanks,
    KT

    • Hi KT,

Thank you for your question. The deadline to apply to the MPH program is January 15th. Although this is the date by which the department expects to receive all application materials, including GRE scores, they may be willing to make an exception. Especially since it seems as though you have different circumstances regarding the availability of the GRE exam.

I recommend contacting the School of Public Health at sphhp-mph@buffalo.edu to inquire about this possibility.

      Best of luck!

  12. Hi
I am Anand from India & i intend to apply for aerospace engg MS program starting from Fall 2010. I am through with GRE & already scheduled for my TOEFL. My transcripts will reach UB within a few days. I wanted to on know the deadlines for my application.
Also, in my online application form there is a query about financial support, recommendations & Scores(GRE & TOEFL). Is it alright if i send them through rather than updating the same in my online application?

  13. Hi,

I couldn’t find a list of any of the requirements for an English MA. I filled out the application, but I don’t know how and where and to whom do I send my letters of recommendation, my writing samples, or my transcripts. Also, I couldn’t find if the Subject Test was necesary for the English MA.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    • Hi Andrew,

This link to the English website may be helpful to you: http://english.buffalo.edu/admissions/ma/

If you can not find the answers to your questions there, you may also wish to contact the English department directly. Sophia Cavanos is responsible for graduate admissions and her email address is scanavos@acsu.buffalo.edu.

      • Thanks so much!

  14. Hi, I am a Fall 2010 applicant for the Masters Program in Industrial Engineering at Buffalo. I have already completed my online application and am preparing the rest of the application material to be sent in mail. I know I have to fill the financial ability form and send it with the packet. The form asks for bank statements of my sponsor which he is willing to give. However , I would like to know what are the requirements in this statement ie. whether it should show a closing balance equal to I-20 amount rite now ?? Also whether Fixed Deposits are taken into consideration as financial ability proof ??

    Thank You.

    Cheers,
    Nikhil

    • Also whether I have to submit original Bank Statements ??

      • Hi Nikhil,

        Thank you for your question.

As an international applicant, you are required to submit an International Applicant Financial Form (signed by you and your financial sponsor) and a bank statement verifying necessary funds are available to cover your first year of expenses at UB. You can find the exact amounts required at the following link: http://wings.buffalo.edu/intadmit/costgraduate.htm

Both documents must be originals with original signatures.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us at gradvant@buffalo.edu!
