FAQ’s

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I check the status of my application and ensure all supplemental materials have been received by my department?

Graduate admission at the University at Buffalo is a decentralized process. This means that each individual department collects and processes all application materials and makes admissions decisions for each applicant. Therefore, you will need to contact the department to which you are applying for information regarding your application status or receipt of required documents. You may find a complete list of programs and contact information at the following website: http://www.provost.buffalo.edu/grad/academics/academicprograms.asp

How can I pay my application fee?

The application fee may be paid by credit card or by check/money order made out to the University at Buffalo. After submitting the online portion of your application for formal review, you will receive a message containing the link to pay your application fee online.

If you did not receive this link we will be happy to re-send it to you. Please send your name and the program to which you are applying to gradvant@buffalo.edu.

One of my references did not receive a message requesting a letter of recommendation, can you resend it?

If your department uses the electronic letter of recommendation system, your reference should receive an electronic request for the letter shortly after you have submitted the online portion of your application for formal review. If they do not receive this message, your department can easily resend it to your recommender. Please contact them directly to make this request.

I entered the wrong email address/contact information for one of my references. How can I correct this?

If you have submitted the online portion of your application for formal review, you may no longer edit the information in your application form. However, if you have entered incorrect information for your reference, or if there are other fields you need to edit, you may contact your department. Your department will make the changes on your behalf.
