BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo has been named to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.

It is the third year in a row that UB has received the honor, presented by the Corporation for National and Community Service in collaboration with the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Campus Compact and the American Council on Education.

“UB is very pleased to receive this prestigious award, and we are proud of the students, faculty and staff who offered their time and talents to support the community in which they study, work and live,” said Marsha Henderson, UB vice president for external affairs. “This award reflects UB’s commitment to Western New York and its people, and to providing support and services that reach our entire community.”
